The Kano State Police Command has arrested eight suspects and recovered six motorcycles believed to have been stolen in an operation targeting property crimes across the state.
The arrests followed a report of criminal conspiracy, theft and receiving stolen property involving a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle.
The case was initially reported at Sabon Gari Police Division on September 22, 2026, before it was transferred to the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
During the investigation, police operatives arrested two suspects identified as 22-year-old Maharazu Mohammed and 22-year-old Hassan Abdullahi, both residents of PRP Quarters, Kano.
According to the Command, the two suspects confessed to their alleged involvement in the crime and provided information that assisted detectives in tracking down six additional suspects.
Further searches conducted by the police led to the recovery of six motorcycles suspected to have been stolen.
The recovered motorcycles comprised two Motor B motorcycles, three Haojue motorcycles and one Companion motorcycle.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, as part of efforts to strengthen intelligence-led policing and tackle crimes against property.
The Command also disclosed that three previously recovered motor vehicles had been handed over to their rightful owners after their ownership was verified and the necessary documentation completed.
Investigation into the case is ongoing as detectives work to recover more stolen motorcycles and apprehend other members of the alleged syndicate who are still at large.
The Commissioner of Police commended the officers involved in the operation and called on residents to provide credible information that could assist the police in preventing and solving crimes.
The Command said the arrested suspects would be prosecuted after the completion of the investigation.
Owners of stolen motorcycles are also advised to visit the police to identify the recovered motorcycles and present valid proof of ownership.
