Kanye West has announced he is postponing his concert in Marseille after French officials reportedly explored ways to prevent the show from going ahead.

The rapper, now known as Ye, shared the update on X on Tuesday.

“After much thought and consideration, it is my sole decision to postpone my show in Marseille, France until further notice,” he wrote.

The concert had been scheduled for June 11 at Orange Vélodrome and according to Agence France-Presse, a source close to French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez said the official was “highly determined” to prevent the concert from taking place because of Ye’s past antisemitic remarks.

The source said Nuñez had discussed the issue with local officials during a recent visit to Marseille. Benoît Payan had also spoken publicly against the performance last month.

“Kanye West is not welcome at the Vélodrome, our temple of living together and belonging to all Marseillais,” he wrote on X. “I refuse to allow Marseille to be a showcase for those who promote hatred and unabashed Nazism.”

Ye has faced major backlash in recent months following antisemitic comments and the release of his song “Heil Hitler,” which was later removed by major streaming platforms. The UK’s Wireless Festival was recently canceled. The event was meant to be headlines by Ye but major sponsors pulled out of the event in protest.
