BANDITS have tragically claimed the life of a lecturer affiliated with the Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) in Katsina State.

Dr. Tiri Gyan David was fatally attacked by bandits during a recent assault in the early hours of today.

Serving as the Head of the Department of Agricultural Economics, Extension, and Rural Development at the university, Dr. David fell victim to the assailants at his residence in the Yarima Quarters, Low-Cost Estate, Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State.

An eyewitness recounted how the harrowing incident unfolded around 1:30 am, with the bandits entering the community armed with advanced weaponry and firing shots indiscriminately to create fear among the residents.

Additionally, the criminals abducted two of the lecturer’s children during the raid.

The Katsina Police Command’s spokesperson, Abubakar Sadiq, acknowledged the occurrence but assured that a comprehensive statement elaborating on the event will be issued shortly.

Despite concerted efforts by the state government and security forces to enhance security and restore tranquility, Dutsinma remains one of the ten frontline local government areas repeatedly targeted by bandit attacks, underscoring the ongoing challenges faced by the region.
