Katherine Schwarzenegger Addresses The Constant Criticism Aimed Husband Chris Pratt

Chris Pratt has been on the receiving end of a lot of online criticism over the last year. Whether it has been rumors about his religious affiliations, backlash against his social media posts, or issues with his casting as Mario in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, there seems to have been no end to the list of reasons why people want to hate Pratt online. One person who has remained silent on the subject is Pratt’s wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, but now she has given a short response to the question of how she feels about the abuse Pratt takes via the internet.

Schwarzenegger, daughter of action hero Arnie, recently spoke to the New York Times about a number of subjects, including how as part of a famous family, she has become used to seeing the public expressing their opinions about people she is close to. When it comes to dealing with the wave of hate against her husband, however, she explained that there is one reason why she doesn’t give it all much thought. She said:

While many of the recent complaints about Pratt have been aimed squarely at this casting as Mario in the upcoming animated movie The Super Mario Bros. Movie, it is just the latest in a long line of controversies to follow the Guardians of the Galaxy star wherever he goes online.

Celebrities are well aware that everything they do and say online is not only reacted to at the time but also saved somewhere to be dragged out at a later date. For Chris Pratt, even the seemingly benign post thanking his wife for giving him a “gorgeous, healthy daughter” was seen to be a dig as his ex-wife Anna Faris, whose son with Pratt was born with health complications from premature birth.

Following that, Pratt became the target of online trolls when it was claimed that he was a member of Hillsong Church, whose anti-LGBTQ+ and anti-abortion links saw Pratt being constantly criticized over the summer of 2022 when he starred in blockbuster movies Jurassic World: Dominion and Thor: Love and Thunder.

Additionally, Pratt’s social media posts have been accused of being insensitive to deaf people and saw him in hot water for commenting that if he were not working in Hollywood, he would most likely be a corrupt cop. While the actor’s co-stars and others, such as Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn have constantly come to the actor’s defense, that has not stopped the online abuse from coming thick and fast. With Pratt appearing in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 this summer, he and his wife will likely have to brush aside more of the same.
