THE acting Governor of Katsina State, Faruk Jobe, has approved a revision of the previously imposed 24-hour restriction of movement in the Dutsinma Local Government Area as well as in 33 other Local Government Areas of the state.

This decision followed a report indicating an improved security situation in Dutsinma.

Initially, Jobe had instituted a curfew from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am for these areas.

During a State Security Council meeting held yesterday evening, the Acting Governor also mandated that the ban on unusual gatherings and all forms of protests remain in effect throughout the state.

He commended the security forces for their composed response to the hoodlums who exploited the peaceful protests to engage in criminal activities.

Additionally, he expressed gratitude to parents, guardians, and community leaders for advising their children and youth against joining the ranks of the miscreants.

Meanwhile, the State Security Council reported the arrest of several youths in connection with the recent outbreaks of violence, looting, and vandalism of both public and private properties.

Following the Council’s meeting, the Secretary to the Katsina State Government, Barrister Abdullahi Faskari, announced that some of the apprehended individuals have already been charged in court for alleged criminal conspiracy, public disturbance, vandalism, and theft.

In a statement released today, signed by his Director of Press, Malam Abdullahi Yar’adua, Barrister Faskari reiterated the Security Council’s appeal for residents to remain calm and abide by the law, assuring that all efforts were being made to ensure the safety of lives and properties.
