Kay Flock will spend decades behind bars following a federal sentencing tied to a violent gang case in New York City.
The Bronx rapper, born Kevin Perez, was sentenced Tuesday to 30 years in prison after being found guilty earlier this year on multiple charges, including racketeering conspiracy, attempted murder, and assault with a deadly weapon in aid of racketeering. The conviction stemmed from his involvement with Sev Side also known as DOA, a gang based on East 187th Street in the Bronx. U.S. District Judge Lewis J. Liman imposed the sentence in Manhattan federal court.
The announcement was made by the office of U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton, who said Perez “used violence and fame to fuel fear and intimidation across the Bronx.” Clayton added that Perez and other gang members carried out shootings that struck both rivals and bystanders, while the rapper used his music to “threaten his rivals, brag about his shootings, and taunt his victims.”

According to prosecutors, that public posture helped spark cycles of retaliation that left multiple people wounded or dead. “Today’s sentence brings New Yorkers what they want,” Clayton said, “violent, gun-toting gang leaders off our streets.”
In addition to the prison term, Perez was sentenced to five years of supervised release.
Kay Flock rose to prominence during the early 2020s Bronx drill wave and gained mainstream attention with the hit single “Shake It,” featuring Cardi B, shortly before his legal troubles derailed his career.
