The Kebbi State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has called on media practitioners and bloggers to refrain from inciting misunderstanding between the Christian community and the state governor.
This appeal was made during a press briefing held in Birnin Kebbi, following public backlash over the reported rejection of a ₦30 million donation to a crusade hosted by Pastor Paul Enenche in the state capital.
Speaking at the briefing, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Christian Affairs, Sam Audu, clarified the situation, stating that the donation was not rejected by the Christian community.
“The Christians did not reject the money,” Audu said. “Pastor Enenche simply stated that the ₦30 million belonged to the state and should be used for the benefit of the people. He then asked the state CAN to receive the money, and they did.”
Audu also praised Governor Nasir Idris for his ongoing support of Christians in the state.
“Christians in Kebbi State have never had it this good,” he added. “Governor Idris has shown genuine commitment to the welfare of Christians through various gestures and support, more than any previous administration.”
He urged media outlets and bloggers to report responsibly and avoid creating unnecessary division or tension among religious communities.
