GUNMEN abducted and killed the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bako Bala, in Suru Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The Special Adviser to the Kebbi Governor on Television and Radio, Zaidu Bala, reported that the armed assailants kidnapped Bala in his hometown, shot him, and left him in a pool of his own blood.

He was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Birnin Kebbi, where he sadly succumbed to his gunshot wounds on Wednesday.

Kebbi State is one of the regions grappling with banditry.

In a related incident, bandits reportedly kidnapped an individual in Matseri village, located in the Bunza Local Government Area of Kebbi State, and shot a young man who is now receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre in Birnin Kebbi.

Efforts to contact Nafiu Abubakar, the spokesperson for the Kebbi State Police Command, for comments on these incidents were unsuccessful.

Nigerian forces have been battling criminal gangs, referred to as bandits, that have been targeting communities in northwestern and central Nigeria for years.

These gangs frequently raid villages, killing and abducting residents for ransom, as well as looting and burning homes.
