Kelechi Iheanacho is expected to leave Sevilla this summer, and he has multiple offers on the table…
Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has emerged as a potential transfer target for newly-promoted Spanish LaLiga club Real Oviedo, Soccernet.ng reports.
In recent weeks, talks around Iheanacho’s future have heated up. It is believed that the 28-year-old Super Eagles striker is seen as a dispensable player at Sevilla.
He joined Los Nervionenses last summer, but he struggled to get playing time under coach Garcia Pimienta. As such, he had to join Middlesbrough in a loan transfer. Still, things did not go well for him there.
Iheanacho is now back at Sevilla and has been working with the first team under coach Matias Almeyda. He even scored a goal in pre-season.
However, he did not make the matchday squad for their LaLiga opening day loss to Athletic Bilbao season, as he was not registered.
This summer, Iheanacho has been linked to Pumas UNAM, Besiktas, and Samsunspor. But nothing concrete has emerged from the speculations yet.
Real Oviedo want Kelechi Iheanacho
In a new development, per Fichajes, newly-promoted LaLiga club Real Oviedo are considering a move for Kelechi Iheanacho.
The club needs some quality in the final third to be able to compete with their counterparts, and they believe Iheanacho could be their man.
The Super Eagles star is also an affordable option, as Sevilla will consider a bid around €3 million.
However, they might not be able to meet the offers that the Super Lig clubs like Besiktas and Samsunspor offer Iheanacho.
Once a Star at Manchester City, Can Kelechi Resuscitate His Career?
Kelechi Iheanacho was the best star of the 2013 under-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates and was expected to do big things.
He eventually joined Manchester City’s Academy and was promoted to the senior team. Iheanacho contributed 21 goals and seven assists in 64 apoearances for the club before he was sold to Leicester City in 2017.
He was a key player at the club until two years ago, when Enzo Maresca became coach at the club. Iheanacho eventually left Leicester City last year after the club refused to extend his deal.
Unfortunately for him, the Sevilla move has not paid off. Now, the Super Eagles star will be looking to redeem himself.
Iheanacho’s next move will be critical. If he makes the wrong move, his career could go downhill.
