Kevin Federline Spills the Tea on Britney Spears Divorce — Says His Million-Dollar Settlement Didn’t Go Far in L.A.

Media Take Out has learned that Kevin Federline is breaking his silence like never before — and this time, he’s putting it all in writing. The 47-year-old former dancer and ex-husband of Britney Spears is dropping a new memoir titled “You Thought You Knew” on October 21, and the book is filled with juicy details about their marriage, messy divorce, and what life was really like raising their two sons in the Hollywood spotlight.

Kevin Says the Divorce Wasn’t a Payday

Federline, who was married to Britney from 2004 to 2006, revealed that he received $20,000 per month in child support for their sons, Sean Preston (20) and Jayden James (19) — plus another $20,000 per month in alimony for half the duration of their 26-month marriage.

While reports at the time pegged his total divorce payout at around $1 to $1.3 million, Kevin insists that people have the wrong idea about the money.

“People hear figures like that and think you’re financially set,” he writes. “But the reality is far from that.”

He explains that living in Los Angeles — and raising two kids in a secure and stable environment — isn’t cheap. “Raising two young boys in Los Angeles, while maintaining the security and stability they needed, came with a price tag that would make anyone’s head spin,” he says.

“I Wasn’t Waiting for a Check”

Federline also pushes back hard against the long-standing rumor that he only married Britney for her fame and money.

He claims the couple signed a “pretty standard” prenup before tying the knot and that he was already working hard to build a career for himself before meeting the pop superstar.

“I wasn’t some bum just sitting around waiting for a check,” he wrote. “Before our marriage, I was out there hustling, grinding, investing, working.”

According to Kevin, the lavish lifestyle people associate with being Britney Spears’ husband was not his reality. “It was love, not luxury,” he insists in the book.

Co-Parenting and Moving On

Kevin and Britney share two children, and despite their rocky past, he says his focus has always been on being the best father possible. “It’s about giving my boys a stable home, safety, and a sense of normalcy,” he writes.

These days, Kevin lives a much quieter life in Hawaii with his wife Victoria Prince and their kids. Britney, meanwhile, continues to rebuild her career and personal freedom following the end of her conservatorship.

Media Take Out’s Take

Kevin’s new memoir sounds like it’s going to stir the pot. While he paints himself as the grounded parent who carried the weight of responsibility, fans are already debating whether this is genuine reflection — or another attempt to cash in on Britney’s name.

Either way, one thing’s clear: Kevin Federline wants the world to know that behind the headlines, he was more than just “Mr. Britney Spears.”
