Kevin Gates is speaking out about his split from his longtime partner, Dreka Gates, claiming there is more to their story than what has been publicly shared.
In a video posted to Instagram on Friday, the 39-year-old rapper addressed Dreka directly and accused her of shaping a misleading narrative about their relationship and breakup.
Gates claims the couple had been separated for years before divorce papers were filed. “We been apart since 2020,” he said, alleging that the filing only came later for financial reasons.
Gates also claimed his reputation has taken hits because of what he described as one-sided portrayals of their marriage. “Tell them the truth,” he urged in the video. “You are a goddess. You’re just a goddess of manipulation and darkness. Tell the truth.”
The rapper went further, accusing Dreka and members of her family of financial misconduct during their relationship, including allegations involving a business venture that he said quickly shut down. Dreka has not publicly responded to Gates’ claims.
The former couple share two children, Islah and Khaza. Dreka filed for divorce in July, citing irreconcilable differences. While reports previously stated they married in 2015, Gates has insisted they were never legally married.
