Killing Faith is now available on video-on-demand. The movie, which was released in theaters on October 3, received a particularly positive review from Stephen King, who called it “an authentic shocker” and “a quasi-supernatural Western” with “echoes of Cormac McCarthy.“
Now, a month after its theatrical release, Killing Faith is available on digital platforms, including Prime Video, where it is available to rent for $6.99 and buy for $14.99.
Written and directed by Ned Crowley, Killing Faith follows a newly freed slave in 1849 who, fearing her daughter is cursed because everything she touches dies, persuades a widowed doctor to accompany them on a quest to find a distant faith healer.
Its surprisingly star-studded cast includes Oscar nominee Guy Pearce (The Brutalist), DeWanda Wise (Jurassic World Dominion), Bill Pullman (Independence Day), Raoul Trujillo (Sicario), Jamie Neumann (The Deuce), Jack Alcott (Dexter: New Blood), two-time Emmy nominee Joanna Cassidy (Six Feet Under, Buffalo Bill), Emily Ford (Outer Range), Josh McDermitt (The Walking Dead), Charlie Talbert, Keith Jardine, Andrew J. West, and Gail Cronauer.
Killing Faith received positive reviews, resulting in an 80% Rotten Tomatoes score, with critics calling it bold, visually striking, and a haunting “weird Western” with strong performances and atmosphere.
Stephen King was among those who praised Killing Faith, calling it “a quasi-supernatural Western” with “echoes of Cormac McCarthy,” the author of No Country for Old Men and The Road. King also called the movie’s opening scene, which involves a child and a horse, an “authentic shocker.”
Despite positive reviews from critics and Stephen King, Killing Faith made little to no impression at the box office, so it remains to be seen how the Western horror movie performs on digital platforms.
