Nigerian Afrobeats star Omah Lay has warned that prayers by themselves cannot resolve the country’s challenges.
Naijaonpoint reports that in a post on his social media page, he stated that real change requires citizens to take active steps and engage directly in solving issues.
He wrote: “NO JESUS, NO ALLAH, NO PRAYER IS SAVING US. NOTHING CHANGES UNTIL WE WAKE TF UP 🇳🇬💔”
His remarks come as many celebrities continue weighed in on recent violent incidents, including the attack on a church in Kwara and the kidnapping of schoolgirls in Kebbi.
Other artistes, including Don Jazzy, Davido, Falz, and Mr Macaroni, urged authorities to take immediate action to protect citizens.
Meanwhile, Yemi Alade expressed opposition to calls for foreign intervention, arguing that African nations must solve their own security problems rather than rely on outside forces.
In a related development, Nollywood actress Bolaji Ogunmola has shared her thoughts on the rising killings across Nigeria, expressing deep concern for the safety of families in the country.
She revealed that while she sometimes considers leaving Nigeria, she cannot do so because her family is still in the country.
The actress described Nigeria as her home and the place she comes from.
She acknowledged the challenges but declared that she is still tied to her roots.
