Norodom Sihamoni was born on the 14th of May in 1953 and presently his age is 70 years as of 2023. Norodom is the eldest son of all siblings. Before Ascending to the throne, he finished his education in Czechoslovakia and was known for his work as a cultural ambassador.
Norodom Sihamoni did his schooling at Norodom School in Phnom Penh, having a keen interest in arts. In early 1962 young Sihamoni was sent to Prague by his father to study abroad. Norodom completed his studies at Majakovskeho Primary School and further attended Ostrovni Elementary School.
Norodom got married five times. His wives were Mam Manivan, Norodom Monnieath, Phat Kanhol, Norodom Thavet, Sisowath Monikessan, Pongsanmoni. He was born to his parents, King-Father Norodom Sihanouk, and his mother Queen Norodom Monineath.
Norodom Sihamoni career
In early 1981, Norodom Sihamoni shifted to France to teach ballet being a professor of classical dance and artistic pedagogy. He held positions for almost decades at different Marius Petipa Conservatory, Gabriel Faure Conservatory, and the W.A. Mozart Conservatory. Norodom later holds position of the President of the Khmer Dance Association.
Norodom lived in France for over 20 years and he also continued his pursuit in arts. In late 1993, the prince was appointed as Cambodia’s permanent representative to UNESCO in Paris. He held the right until he became King in early 2004. In that role, Norodom was recognized for his devotion and determination to Cambodia.
He once refused an appointment as Cambodia’s ambassador. But later in 2003, Norodom was appointed as the High Privy Counselor to then-King Norodom Sihanouk.
Then Prince Sihamoni during the 1960s and 1990s starred in movies. Most of them were directed by his father as he was an accomplished film-maker.
