KOGI: Govt sets up committee for remembrance of late Prince Audu

The Kogi State Government has inaugurated a planning committee for the 10-year memorial programme in honour of the late former governor, Prince Abubakar Audu.

According to a statement by the Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Unubi Emmanuel, the committee will be chaired by the Deputy Governor, Comrade Joel Salifu, while the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barrister Ozigi Mamodu Deedat, will serve as Secretary.

Other members include Alhaji Yakubu Yusuf Okala, Hon. Suleman Baba Alih, Hajia Maymunah Eke Audu, Maryam Mauzu, Hon. Bashir Audu, Hon. Dan Okolo, Barrister Abdullahi Haruna (SAN), Dr. Joseph Erico Ameh, Hon. Musa Usman, Hajia Mariam Abedo, Hon. Tosin Lagba Olokun, and Prof. Salisu Usman Ogbo.

Inaugurating the committee on behalf of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Abdullahi Bello, said the memorial is to celebrate the enduring legacy of the late leader, who dedicated his life to the service of Kogi State and Nigeria.

“You will recall that this great leader devoted his life to the service of our state and beyond. Although he passed away nearly ten years ago, we, his political disciples, have decided to honour him through this anniversary,” Bello said.

“The committee is therefore tasked with organising a befitting memorial service to celebrate his legacy and show that Kogi State values its leaders even in death.”
