KWARA: US condemns killings, supports Tinubu’s security response

Washinton

THE United States has condemned the recent deadly attacks in Kwara State’s Woro and Nuku communities, where conflicting reports indicate between 75 and over 160 fatalities.

The US described the incident as “horrific” and expressed condolences to the victims’ families.

The US welcomed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive to deploy security forces to protect affected areas and provide aid, while ensuring the perpetrators are brought to justice.

“We welcome President Tinubu’s order to deploy security forces to protect villages in the area and his directive to federal and state officials to provide aid to the community and bring the perpetrators of this atrocity to justice,” it added.

International reactions, including from the UN and Türkiye, have similarly denounced the attacks.

Following the killings, Tinubu deployed an army battalion to Kaiama and established a new military command to coordinate local security operations.
