La Verne, California (KABC) — The team members of an incredibly talented group of girls from La Verne knock out of the park; they go to the Little League Softball World Series in North Carolina.

“This is something you only experience once in a lifetime and when I get older I will be able to tell this to my children and grandchildren,” said Adrienne Ortiz.

This team is heading for the biggest show in the world.

“We’re going 100 percent without mercy. We’ve got this,” said Laney Sweeney.

“A lot of these girls have played together in neighboring towns and now together here in La Verne since they were 6 or 8 years old,” said coach Loretta Washington.

“The thought of this a few years ago was just a thought and to see the journey they went through then to where we are now; the reality, I mean I’m over my head,” said Branden Mulder, La Verne Little League president.

“Softball has really grown in the city of La Verne in recent years, we recently won the CIF Championship at our local high school,” said coach Michael Mann.

“It’s nice that the girls are starting to get their time to shine, which is great,” Washington said.

These athletes will bring a lot of girl power to the dream field in the World Series and they say with their chemistry on the field: watch out for opponents!

“We are going home with a win, representing our city very well and we hope to win everything,” Ortiz said.

The La Verne Little League Softball Team heads to North Carolina on Tuesday for its first game in the World Series.
