FOUR soldiers from Myoung Barracks in the Morocco area of Shomolu, Lagos, are feared dead, while several others sustained injuries after being hit by a suspected drunk driver.

The incident happened early this morning during the soldiers’ routine monthly road jog outside the barracks.

An eyewitness, Priscilla, who resides in the area, recounted how the speeding Toyota vehicle, occupied by three young men, rammed into the soldiers.

Following the accident, the occupants attempted to flee but were caught, beaten, and had their vehicle vandalized. One of them was reportedly stabbed.

“The soldiers were on their morning road walk when the car ran into them in front of the barracks. Four soldiers died, and many others were seriously injured. The boys tried to escape but were captured and beaten unconscious, while their vehicle was destroyed. One of them was also stabbed by the soldiers,” Priscilla said.

The incident has sparked panic among residents.

As of the time of this report, the Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, 81 Division, Olabisi Ayeni, and the Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, have yet to respond to inquiries.
