LAGOS: Midnight fire destroys millions-worth goods at popular Alaba Rago market

Alabarago market fire

AN early morning fire today devastated goods worth millions of naira at the well-known Alaba Rago market in the Ojo area of Lagos State.

In a statement, Dr. Femi Oke-Osayintolu, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA), reported that the fire broke out around midnight.

The cause of the fire, whether immediate or remote, remains undetermined at this time.

Oke-Osayintolu noted that the LASEMA team responded to distress calls, activated the State’s emergency response plans, and deployed its Emergency Response Team from Igando.

Upon the arrival of the agency’s Dolphin Response Team at the scene, they found several makeshift shops engulfed in flames.

Personnel from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, along with LASEMA and other responders, worked to extinguish the raging fire.

Oke-Osayintolu and Margaret Adeseye, Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, confirmed that the situation was brought under control to prevent the fire from spreading to other properties.
