What you’ll do every day;

• You’ll lead design for a product area. This includes driving the future vision of this area, making sure it compliments a cohesive overall software product designing, and delivering on incremental steps to help the team head in this direction.
• You’ll be embedded in a cross-functional product squad. You’ll be responsible for all design artifacts produced; from initial discovery and user journey mapping through to the execution of final UI design details.
• You’ll deeply understand the products you’re designing. Whether it’s joining user research sessions, learning from previous insights, reading data reports or running your lightweight research and analysis, you’ll strive to understand the what, why, and how of the problems you’re solving to ensure we don’t just ship the ‘thing right’, but we ship the ‘right thing’.
• You’ll collaborate regularly using strong communication, documentation and facilitation skills. You’ll work closely with Developers, Data scientists and content writers to make sure your team isn’t just shipping great designs, but they are deeply involved throughout the design process.
• You’ll execute (and advocate for) polished, intuitive and accessible user experiences. You’re pragmatic and able to balance the ideal experience with knowing user technical constraints, experimentation strategy etc.
• You’ll help raise the bar for design at Wazobia Technologies. We’re a small but mighty team where every designer plays a critical role in improving our community of practice—whether that’s through improving our craft skills to leading rituals to giving great feedback.
• You’ll regularly work with a design team and product leadership. This is to help make sure long-term strategy, business goals and experience quality are all in alignment and that there are healthy opportunities for visibility and feedback.

• You’re passionate about sharing your knowledge, and raising the bar for design practice at Wazobia. Previous experience mentoring designers is a big plus.
• You understand that writing is designing, you’re a confident writer, and the copy in your screens is never an afterthought.
• You are highly skilled with adobe suite applications
• You have a good eye for designs and understand how to design Ui for all screens (responsive).

This isn’t for you if;

• You need top-down direction– We operate extremely autonomously so you’ll be expected to determine the highest impact areas to work on, collaborating with stake holders and manager to ensure there’s alignment.
• You need to work directly alongside another designer or two- While we work closely as a team and have rituals to encourage collaboration and feedback. We rarely have the luxury of multiple designers working on the same product squad.
• You haven’t worked in a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary product team shipping work to a large scale customer-base- All designers are expected to be involved in the delivery details, everything from finessing UI polish with developers through to roll-out and experimentation strategy.

Job Description

• We are looking to hire a mid-senior engineer who is passionate about solving problems by delivering high-quality code.

Responsibilities

• As a Frontend Engineer, you will work in a cross-functional delivery team of between 7-15 team members (Designers and Engineers)
• You will be responsible for crafting client-side applications using Typescript/Javascript, React.js and Vue.js
• You will be responsible for developing new products, features and using state-of-the-art technologies to bring our products to the next level
• Design and implement complex software applications, focusing on creating delightful user experiences
• Be a critical part of the development team by implementing and deploying complex software applications
• Apply software engineering best practices along with a security first mindset in a scrum team
• Present, share and demonstrate your work to team members and stakeholders
• Working with the design, engineering and software testing team.
• Mentor junior members on the team
• As a collaborative team member, you will have a voice in our daily stand-ups that will be listened to and help us to grow together as a team and you will be a part of an environment that allows you to shape both the technical vision and culture in a growing team.
• As an engineer, you will drive technology discussions and also take care of unit and integration tests (adding and maintaining) together with our Quality Engineers.
• While the client-side applications will be your core responsibility, we believe in cross-functional people as well as cross-functional teams, so there are always opportunities to influence decisions, support other engineers within your team, and work across the full stack.
• Understanding of Agile delivery Methodologies. Comfortable working in teams, leveraging kanban or scrum boards

Requirements

• You have a background in web and/or mobile web development, being experienced in writing and understanding modern JavaScript and its ecosystem
• You have you have a profound knowledge of proper state handling in React.js. (Other frameworks like Angular, Ember, etc. are plus)
• You are quality-driven and experienced in writing unit, integration, and e2e(end-to-end) tests, and you have a good sense of software quality.
• You are able to communicate your technical ideas and solutions through the appropriate tools, diagrams, and documentation.
• You have experience with building web applications that can be surfaced within partner websites or mobile applications.
• You feel comfortable debugging to solve problems, and you worked on larger codebases.
• Define and enforce a release management process, as well as prepare clear release notes.
• You are a communicative and collaborative team player
• You are fluent in English, spoken and written
• Have experience using Laravel
• Experience with Backend JavaScript frameworks like Node.js, Nest.js
• Strong Understanding of Frontend frameworks like React TypeScript, Vue or Angular
• Experience using tools like Docker
• Ability to come to office once a week
• Ability to commute to Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State
• Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required).
