We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Lawyer to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years of post-call experience practicing law in Nigeria. The Senior Lawyer will be responsible for providing expert legal advice, representing clients in court, drafting legal documents, and managing a team of junior lawyers. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned professional looking to take the next step in their legal career.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert legal advice and guidance to clients on a wide range of legal matters.
- Represent clients in court proceedings, hearings, and negotiations.
- Draft and review legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and legal opinions.
- Conduct legal research and stay updated on developments in Nigerian law and regulations.
- Manage and supervise a team of junior lawyers, providing mentorship and guidance as needed.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
- Handle client consultations and inquiries, addressing their legal concerns promptly and effectively.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
- Participate in firm-wide initiatives, including business development activities and training programs.
- Uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethics in all aspects of work.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law from a recognized university.
- Qualified to practice law in Nigeria with a minimum of 7 years of post-call experience.
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian law, legal procedures, and regulatory framework.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to mentor and manage junior staff.
- Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in legal research and drafting legal documents.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Law or related field.
- Previous experience working in a reputable law firm or corporate legal department.
- Experience handling complex litigation cases.
- Familiarity with alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
