    The Position

    • The Vice-Chancellor is the Principal Academic and Executive Officer of the University and ex-officia Chairman of the Senate and a Member of Council.
    • He shall exercise general supervision over the University and shall have general responsibility to Council for maintaining and promoting the efficiency and good order of the University.
    • It shall also be the duty of the Vice-Chancellor to see that the provisions of the Law and Statutes, Ordinances and Regulations of the University are observed, and he may exercise such powers as may be necessary or expedient for that purpose.

    The Candidate

    • The person for ... of Vice-Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, is required to possess a good University education from a recognized University and should be a proven manager of human and material resources.

    Specifically, the candidate is expected to:

    • Be 50 years old but not older than 65 years by 7th June, 2022;
    • Be a highly distinguished scholar of the rank of Professor of not less than ten (10) years experience on that rank, with ability to provide academic and administrative leadership for the University community;
    • Be able to command the respect of the national and international academic communities through his/her track records;
    • Possess a clear vision for the development of the University and the realization of its mission as expressed in its strategic plan which theme is “Harnessing Technology for Academic Excellence”;
    • Demonstrate interpersonal and team building skills and possess the ability to strengthen the bridges between staff, students, other members of the University community and the University’s stake holders;
    • Exhibit entrepreneurial drive and ability to attract much needed funds and mobilize other resources for the development of the University;
    • Enjoy excellent physical and mental health; and
    • Have demonstrable ability to establish and maintain partnerships with local and international governmental and non-governmental agencies.

    • The Vice-Chancellor shall hold office for a single term of five (5) years only on such terms and conditions as may be specified in the letter of appointment.
    • The remuneration and other conditions of service as are applicable to ... of Vice- Chancellor in all Nigerian Federal Universities and as may be determined by the Government / Governing Council of the University as appropriate.

    nterested and qualified candidates should submit fifteen (15) copies of their Applications and Curriculum Vitae including a soft copy on a CD, both documents should be duly signed and dated. The curriculum vitae must contain details of the candidate’s names in full, age, marital status, educational attainment, nationality, professional and academic achievements.

    Each application must be accompanied by fifteen (15) copies including a soft copy in a CD of the statement of the candidate’s Vision for the University.

    In the case of candidates identified by the Search Team, the application shall conform to the requirements above, and in addition, the candidate shall present a letter of consent duly signed by him/her along with the application.

Each Referee must be contacted by the applicant to forward, direct to the “Registrar”, a confidential report on the candidate’s character, academic and managerial competences in a properly sealed envelope marked “Post of Vice-Chancellor: Referee’s Report” at the top left-hand corner of the envelope.

    Description

    • The Kuda Head of Compliance – Nigeria will be a critical member of the Nigeria Kuda Team, ensuring effective oversight of Nigeria’s compliance arrangements as it enters the Nigeria in parallel with other jurisdictions.
    • The role holder must be in the Nigeria and will also assume the MLRO and Nominated Officer position.
    • Each Kuda entity established in a different jurisdiction will be responsible in supporting and assisting Senior Management in managing compliance related risks within that business and report directly to general management and functionally in line with Kuda Group Compliance.
    • Furthermore, ensuring, alongside other Exec Team members, that Group culture, conduct, and values are affected with the tone and direction set by the Kuda Board.
    • Be responsible for the development and establishment of the Nigeria Policies and will collaborate on Group Policies.
    • Co-ordinate Compliance support to Management and Local Compliance in other jurisdictions.
    • Manage and supervise Nigeria’s compliance framework & resource network.
    • Advise on specific compliance-related issues with Nigeria or Group-wide relevance as it may apply.
    • Monitor the adequacy and effectiveness of the Nigeria compliance program and wider governance in addressing international, systemic issues and risks consistently.
    • Coordinate and roll out training & awareness across key areas under the financial crime umbrella as well as conduct in developing a strong compliance culture
    • Provide advisory and guidance on compliance-related matters & commercial impact
    • Monitoring & Reporting to give assurance as to the second line of defence
    • Hold the Nigeria MLRO and Nominated Officer position, including responsibilities associated with this position

    Requirements

    • Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role (with preferably an ICA Diploma or equivalent qualification)
    • Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks across financial services, specifically the payment service provider landscape
    • In depth knowledge of BOTH financial crime (not isolated to AML/CTF) AND regulatory compliance
    • Previous experience in dealing with regulators including the Financial Conduct Authority and other external stakeholders/law enforcement
    • Effective and comfortable in dealing with and liaising with a range of internal stakeholders across the business
    • Previous experience in scaling up and working for a start-up in a fast-paced Fintech environment
    • In depth Experience in implementing compliance frameworks that are scaling globally
    • Strong communication skills, coupled with being a strong influencer, relationship & change manager
    • Hands-on yet the ability to prioritise activities and delegate where required.
