Senate President Ahmad Lawan has advised voters in Kwara to repeat what they did in 2019 to the political clan led by Senator Bukola Saraki.

“I will like to remind you here, those people that you chased out will never get tired of trying to come back. You have only one more of “Otoge” and they will never come back.

“In 2023, just chase them far away from Kwara, and they will never find their way to Kwara.

“Don’t take it for granted. They are smart people. You know that. Chase them far away, if you can, up to the Atlantic Ocean if you chose to chase them to the South. If you wish, chase them up to Niger Republic. Chase them far away from here”.Senator Oloriegbe shows Lawan prototype of a hospital project

Lawan spoke at a town hall meeting in Ilorin organised by the Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe, on Saturday.

He pleaded with Nigerians to give the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) another opportunity.

At the meeting, Oloriegbe declared his intention to run for another term.

The senate president had earlier performed the ground breaking of a rehabilitation centre at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Budo-Egba, Asa Local Government Area, and commissioned Idi-Isin Community Health Centre, Okolowo Area of Ilorin, both of which Oloriegbe facilitated.

He told those at the town hall meeting that the performance of Oloriegbe in the National Assembly has dwarfed all those who occupied the senatorial seat before him.

Former Senate President Bukola Saraki, Lawan’s predecessor, was among those who occupied the senatorial seat before Oloriegbe.

“I also want to call on all Nigerians to give APC another chance at all levels beyond 2023. We have promised Nigerians to continue to do our best and we would not renege on our promises”, Lawan said.

“The people of Kwara, you have gotten what you deserve from 2019. You have a state Governor that is for you. You have your National Assembly members that are for you. You have your state Assembly members that are for you and council chairmen and councillors.

“Don’t ever take that for granted. Less than three years, what our state Governor in Kwara has done, what our members of National Assembly, our Distinguished Senators, all the three of them, Senator Yahaya Oloriegbe from Kwara Central, Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar of Kwara North, Senator Lola Ashiru of Kwara South, have given every time that they need to give for us in the Senate to achieve what we have been able to achieve in the Senate.

“You don’t need to think twice. Vote for them more than you did in 2019. Make the gap more than convincing. Vote massively. Don’t assume, well we have won in 2019, these people, send them far away from Kwara so that we can maintain the trajectory of what you have been able to get today because, Nigerians, having gone through 16 years of deprivation, of mis-governance between 1999 and 2015, deserve the Progressives to continue to provide leadership in Nigeria.”

Oloriegbe reminded the people of Kwara that the ‘O to ge’ struggle that ousted the then Saraki political clan was targeted at poor governance and pauperization of the masses that were the hallmarks of the last administration.

He said his representation at the National Assembly has set a template for the people of Kwara Central since 2019.

Oloriegbe urged the people of Kwara Central to rally round him in his quest for re-election in 2023.

The Bauchi State Police Command on Saturday said six houses and seven shops were burnt by irate youths who went on rampage over alleged blasphemous messages.

Irate youths had rioted at Katanga Community of Warji Local Government Area of Bauchi State on Friday over alleged blasphemy.

The command has ordered an investigation into the crisis that erupted at Katanga Community of Warji Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

Police spokesman, SP Ahmed Wakil, stated in Bauchi on Saturday that some irate youths set six houses and seven shops ablaze in the community on Friday.

He added that some community members also sustained injuries in the assault.

He explained that the assault was a reaction to an alleged blasphemous message posted on the social media by a 40-year-old female employee of the local government council.

“The police deployed troops to the community and they have brought the situation under control,’’ Wakil stated.

He added that the Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, Mr Umar Sanda had ordered a thorough investigation into the crisis.

Wakil stated also that Sanda appealed to the general public to be calm and to go about their lawful businesses without fear of intimidation.

He reiterated the need for parents and guardians to maintain strict vigilance over the activities of their wards, particularly youths.

Sanda also urged religious leaders and community leaders and elders generally to always speak to youths to desist from truncating the peace in their communities.

Former presidential aide and critic, Reno Omokri has declared that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is more competent than Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

Tinubu and Osinbajo are presidential aspirants under the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 presidency and will slug it out at the primary at the end of May.

He said in terms of what he achieved in Lagos, Tinubu was far more competent than Osinbajo.

Omokri said he did not like Tinubu and that he fully expected that if the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chose the right candidate, they would defeat Tinubu.

He said to put the record side by side, Tinubu’s record far outweighed that of Osinbajo.

Omokri tweeted: “In terms of what he achieved in Lagos, Tinubu is by far more competent than Osinbajo. I do not like Tinubu.

“And I fully expect that if the PDP chooses the right candidate, they will defeat him. But put his record side by side Osinbajo’s record, and Tinubu is better!”
