Italian Serie A side Lazio have revived their pursuit of Nigerian striker Rafiu Durosinmi who is currently making a positive impression for Viktoria Plzen, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Nigerian attacker has piqued the interest of many European teams with Lazio taking the front seat in a bid to secure his signature and as well unite him with his compatriot, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.

Earlier reports from Soccernet.ng suggest that the Italian club have previously opened negotiations with Czech’s Plzeň over a potential summer transfer move.

Lazio’s renewed push for Durosinmi

The Biancocelesti had previously shown interest in Durosinmi during last summer’s transfer window, but talks collapsed in the final stages.

However, Lazio have now reopened discussions and are reportedly prepared to offer the 22-year-old a four-year contract.

A representative from Durosinmi’s agency, MMELL Sports Company, confirmed to Africafoot that Lazio’s latest approach includes a bid in the region of €4 million which aligns with Plzeň’s valuation of the player.

Durosinmi Shines for Plzen

Durosinmi has been in impressive form this season, having featured in 10-match appearances, recording five goals and one assist for the Czech club.

Since arriving at Plzeň from Karvina in 2022, Transfermarkt reveals that the Lagos-born striker has amassed 44 appearances, scoring 18 goals and providing 7 assists—numbers that have caught the attention of clubs beyond Italy.

Premier League clubs join the race

Soccernet.ng earlier reports that Lazio’s pursuit of Durosinmi has faced fresh competition, with English clubs Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City closely monitoring the striker.

Citing Football Insider, scouts from both clubs attended Plzeň’s recent Europa League match against Lazio, where Durosinmi delivered a strong performance despite his team’s 2-1 defeat.

German Bundesliga side Wolfsburg have also been credited with an interest which sets the stage for a potential bidding war in the summer transfer window.

Born on January 1, 2003, in Lagos, Nigeria, Durosinmi is a 1.92m-tall centre-forward known for his goal-scoring ability. He joined Viktoria Plzeň permanently in July 2023 and remains under contract until June 2026.

In the coming months, Durosimi’s future in Czech is expected to take a major turn with Lazio, Wolves, Leicester and a host of other clubs pressing for his signature.
