English Premier League side, Manchester United have reportedly made a final call regarding Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, Soccernet.ng reports.

Per Sportsmole, fresh reports suggest the Nigerian international is not a transfer target for the three-time UEFA Champions League winner this summer.

Despite persistent rumours linking the Super Eagles forward to a Premier League switch, particularly to Old Trafford, trusted journalist David Ornstein has clarified United’s stance on the striker.

Speaking to NBC Sports, Ornstein confirmed that Osimhen is not on United’s shortlist, and instead, the club are focused on other options—most notably Liam Delap.

“If Manchester United are to look at others, I’m assured it will not be Victor Osimhen,” Ornstein said. “Despite reports you might be reading, he is not on the agenda for United.”

The revelation comes as a surprise to the Nigerian football community, especially given Osimhen’s impressive record in Italy and in Turkey.

The 25-year-old was instrumental in Napoli’s Scudetto win during the 2023-24 season and is about to do the same in the Turkish league following his loan move to Galatasaray.

However, Manchester United appears to be looking in a different direction. Ornstein added that Delap, who has impressed at Ipswich this season, is seen as a more viable option, with Chelsea also showing interest in the England youth international.

United may also consider internal solutions, including selling off Rasmus Højlund, who arrived at Old Trafford from Atalanta and has not impressed in the forward line.

“They will have other options because they might have to turn to them, or they could stick with internal solutions, such as a Rasmus Højlund, and focus on other positions,” Ornstein concluded.

For Osimhen, a Premier League move may still be on the cards, but Manchester United have officially ruled themselves out of the race — for now.
