Tension is mounting in the Biket area of Osogbo, Osun state as residents raise alarm over a decomposing corpse that remains unattended days after discovery.

The lifeless body was found opposite Optima Hospital, near Koju Foam, prompting urgent calls for government intervention.

The troubling incident was shared via a public post on Monday by Osogboupdates through its official Facebook page.

The platform highlighted residents’ growing fears about potential health and environmental hazards if the body is not promptly removed by the appropriate authorities.

Eyewitness accounts revealed that emergency responders from the Osun State Ambulance Service (O’Ambulance) were notified and arrived at the scene shortly after.

Upon inspection, they confirmed the individual had died but reportedly refused to evacuate the corpse, stating that their services are restricted to rescuing the living.

This decision has stirred outrage among community members, who argue that public health and safety are being compromised.

“Leaving a decomposing body in a residential environment is not only inhumane but also dangerous,” one resident lamented. “We are afraid of an outbreak if this is not addressed quickly.”

Residents are now calling on the Osun State Government, particularly the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Health, to take immediate action and ensure the safe removal of the body.

According to them, repeated appeals to authorities have so far gone unanswered, increasing frustration in the community.
