Lil Durk called to speak to DJ Akademiks on livestream and revealed that he is learning to speak Arabic behind bars.
“I’ve been good, man. Mentally, spiritually, I’ve been on top of my s–t. I’ll be back out there, you hear me,” he told Akademiks.
“I’ve just been focused on life, my family and stuff like that. I’m trying to learn to speak Arabic in here. It’s a couple of guys in here that know how to speak Arabic fluently. So I’m just learning the different words and tightening up my Arabic. Just getting my knowledge together,” he added.
Lil Durk is facing federal charges related to an alleged murder-for-hire plot tied to the 2022 killing of Lul Pab, cousin of rapper Quando Rondo. Prosecutors claim Durk organized the hit as revenge for the 2020 death of his artist and close friend, King Von, arranging travel and other perks for the shooters.
The rapper was arrested in Florida in October 2024 and charged with conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire, among other offenses. If convicted, he could face life in prison. Durk has pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail. His trial is set for October 2025.
His father recently revealed that the rapper has helped 13 of his fellow inmates to convert to Islam since he was locked up.
