When it was revealed that Blumhouse were planning to follow up their Halloween trilogy with a new sequel-reboot of The Exorcist, there was a lot of skepticism over whether such a thing was necessary. While it was originally believed that the David Gordon Green project would be only loosely connected to the original movie, the announcement that original star Ellen Burstyn would be reprising her role in the movie piqued a bit of interest. Now it seems that she could be joined by her on screen daughter Linda Blair, who played possessed Regan in the original movie and its first sequel, The Exorcist II: The Heretic.
