Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold is reportedly looking to purchase French Ligue 1 club FC Nantes, Soccernet.football understands.

The 25-year-old right-back has already expressed interest in investing in sports teams and, along with former Chelsea and Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata, acquired stakes in the Alpine Formula One team last year.

Now, as reported by L’Equipe, he is considering venturing into the football business with a potential bid for French top flight club Nantes.

Trent’s father manages an investment fund on behalf of him and his brother Tyler, who is a director at the PLG agency that represents the Liverpool defender and other high-profile clients.

The family has engaged in discussions about purchasing Nantes and owner Waldemar Kita is reportedly open to selling the club due to ongoing financial challenges in French football.

Initial talks between Kita and the Alexander-Arnold family took place in July. A verbal offer exceeding €100 million (£84 million) was made, but while Kita was willing to continue discussions and met with the family again last Thursday, he was not satisfied with the terms of their proposal.

The offer was reportedly increased to €150 million, but Kita has yet to respond, raising doubts about his willingness to sell. When approached for comment, Kita even denied any intention to sell.

This is not the first time Kita has tried to keep negotiations private. A previous attempt to sell the club to Benjamin Leigh Hunt in 2019 fell apart after Kita became frustrated with media leaks. However, talks with Alexander-Arnold’s family are believed to still be ongoing.
