Liverpool Transfer News – Schalke sporting director confirms club wants van den Berg back despite relegation

German giants Schalke were relegated from the Bundesliga this season. On-loan from Liverpool, Sepp van den Berg spent most of the campaign injured but became a regular starter for the club near the end of the season. Voetbal International shared that Schalke sporting director Andre Hechelmann confirmed talks are just ongoing between van de Berg’s agent and the club. The Dutch centre-back posted on Instagram about his season on loan with Schalke, perhaps signalling a goodbye. Despite this, Hechelmann believes ... is more or less just a thank you and not confirming a departure. van den Berg signed an extension with Liverpool that will keep him at the club until 2026.
