ABUJA – Former Cross River State Governor, Senator Liyel Imoke, will lead a 76-member campaign team constituted by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to coordinate the party’s final campaign activities and election strategy ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.
The campaign team, comprising former governors, serving and former lawmakers, technocrats, retired military officers and party leaders, will oversee the party’s preparations through to its final campaign rally scheduled for Monday, August 10, in Osogbo, before coordinating election-day operations.
In a statement issued on Friday in Abuja by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC announced that Imoke would chair the team.
Former Sokoto State Governor, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal; former Imo State Governor, Emeka Ihedioha; and former Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Kabiru Nadama (rtd), were named as co-chairmen.
Other members of the campaign team include Senator Ireti Kingibe, former Attorney-General of the Federation Abubakar Malami (SAN), Senator Dino Melaye, former Minister of Youth and Sports Solomon Dalung, Senator Abdul Ningi, Senator Ayo Akinyelure, Senator Aliyu Turaki, former Minister of Communications Adebayo Shittu, Lauretta Onochie, former Rivers State governorship candidate Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, former Nigerian Ambassador Nkoyo Toyo, Rt. Hon. Gboyega Aribisogan, Niyi Adams, Paul Hanson, Offiong Edet Anthony and several other political leaders from across the country.
Also appointed are Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, Dr. Mani Ibrahim Ahmed, Brigadier Tukur Gusau, Dr. Mikailu Barau, Comrade Nkemakolam Ukandu, Hon. Idris Kumo, Prof. Bode Ayorinde, Tajudeen Bakare and Otunba Emmanuel Famojuro.
According to the party, the composition of the team reflects its resolve to deploy experienced political leaders and strategists to strengthen its campaign and maximise its chances of victory in the Osun governorship election.
