Dominican right-hander Luis Severino left Wednesday’s game, in which the New York Yankees faced the Cincinnati Reds, due to stiffness in his throwing arm shoulder.

Severino showed signs of discomfort while taking warm-up pitches when the Reds were going to use up their third opportunity at bat in the game played at Yankee Stadium in New York.

The Dominican right-hander was examined by the Yankees’ medical staff and will undergo an MRI on Thursday, the team reported.

Before leaving the game, Severino was penalized with three homers and four runs in just two innings of work.

So far this season, Severino is 5-3 with a 3.45 ERA and has completed 86 innings in 16 appearances.
