Luke Hemsworth Set to Star In Action Film Gunner

Westworld star Luke Hemsworth lands the titular role of the action film Gunner. Deadline reports that the eldest of the Hemsworth brothers will be leading the cast ensemble of writer and director Dimitri Logothetis’ Gunner. At the moment, Luke Hemsworth is the only cast member confirmed for the said project.

Dimitri Logothetis, who’s widely known for his works for Jiu Jitsu, and Kickboxer: Retaliation, will be directing the new action film. Joel Shapiro will produce the film in partnership with Logothetis, magiCity Studios and Acme Rocket Fuel. The film is written by former The Fast and the Furious scribe Gary Scott Thompson.

Gunner is a story written by Gary Scott Thompson that tells the tale of a Special forces veteran named Lee Gunner, to be played by Luke Hemsworth, who’s about to take his two sons on a camping trip. The trip will soon turn into a nightmare after Gunner’s sons stumble upon some fentanyl lab which led the drug runners of the lab to kidnap the boys.

Unbeknownst to the kidnappers, they just took Gunner’s sons who refused to go down without a fight. Gunner will soon face difficulties as he comes up against the criminal carter, the FBI and the local police. The former veteran will be using the skills he learned from the Special forces to take on his enemies and save his family.

Luke Hemsworth rose to prominence after starring in HBO’s sci-fi drama Westworld as Westworld Security Head Ashley Stubbs. Hemsworth is a mainstay cast and is present on the series from seasons one to four. The actor loved playing his character on the show and was pretty disappointed that the show had to end. Hemsworth shared his sentiments when HBO announced that the Emmy-winning sci-fi series will be shutting down.

On his interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actor said “You hope these things go forever, but everyone’s got their own reasons…I’m very thankful for my part in that series, and that journey was a big part of my life. But yeah, it was disappointing.”

The actor also revealed that there was so much more explore on the series Westworld, and he gave the fans some idea on what was supposed to happen if they continued to season five. He revealed“I think the idea right from the start was to go full circle and come back to be about loops, to be about human beings and robots being stuck in that trajectory. Unfortunately, we get cut off, but it’s the nature of the world. You can’t get depressed about it. You move on, and it opens up new doors.”
