M. Night Shyamalan Names Knock at the Cabin as His Best Movie

The hype grows for Knock at the Cabin with veteran filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan feeling that this is his best work yet. Hitting theaters on Feb. 3, the psychological horror movie follows a vacationing family at a remote cabin taken hostage by a group of strangers demanding a sacrifice to prevent the apocalypse. The film is based on the book The Cabin at the End of the World by Paul G. Tremblay, though we can expect some key differences for the adaptation, knowing how Shyamalan thrives on subverting expectations.

Fans have seen a lot of promise in Knock at the Cabin based on the trailers and other promotional materials. Ahead of the film’s release, Shyamalan is giving people more reason to check out the movie. In a new interview with THR, Shyamalan was asked to pick his “best” film, and while insisting he’s not just trying to sell tickets with his response, he chooses Knock at the Cabin. From the interview:

While Shyamalan has several upcoming projects in the works with no plans to retire anytime soon, he still goes on to note that he’d be totally satisfied if Knock at the Cabin had turned out to be his final film.

It will be interesting to see how Knock at the Cabin performs in theaters. There has been a lot of hype heading into this movie, which marks the second R-rated film directed by Shyamalan. We’ll see soon enough how the filmgoers take to the film along with how they’ll respond to it soon enough, as we are days ahead of the movie’s premiere. Shyamalan has recently been pleading for filmgoers to check out the movie in theaters, declaring it to be best enjoyed on the big screen.

Directed by Shyamalan, the film is co-written by Shyamalan, Steve Desmond, and Michael Sherman. It stars Dave Bautista, Jonathan Groff, Ben Aldridge, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Kristen Cui, Abby Quinn, and Rupert Grint.
