Man accused of murdering Olivia Pratt-Korbel appears in court

A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel, who was shot and killed at her home in Liverpool on August 22.

Thomas Cashman, 34, appeared shortly before the Magistrates’ Court of Liverpool, charged with one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder and two counts of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Dressed in a light gray T-shirt and jeans, he was escorted to the dock by four police officers and sat head down for most of the procedure.

He spoke only to give his name, date of birth and address.

Olivia’s mother, Cheryl Korbel, who was injured in the shooting, was in court along with Olivia’s father, John Francis Pratt.

The case was forwarded to Liverpool Crown Court, where Cashman will appear for a further hearing at 2 p.m. Monday.

Magistrates’ bench chair Hugh Thompson said: “This case will be sent to Liverpool Crown Court at 2 p.m. this afternoon.”
