Manchester City are weighing up a move for Nigeria international Ademola Lookman as uncertainty grows over the future of winger Savinho, Footynaija.com reports.

Africa Footballer of the Year Lookman has made clear his desire to leave Atalanta after accusing the club of failing to keep promises made to him.

Earlier this month, the forward submitted a transfer request and even agreed personal terms with Inter Milan, only for the deal to collapse when Atalanta refused to sanction his departure.

That breakdown has placed the 26-year-old’s relationship with the Serie A side under strain and opened the door for several Premier League clubs.

Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham have all been credited with interest, while City are monitoring the situation closely.

According to reports, Pep Guardiola’s side would only move for Lookman if Savinho, who has attracted strong interest from top-flight rivals, is sold before the window closes.

City have already added Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki, Sverre Nypan, Marcus Bettinelli and James Trafford this summer, but are still exploring options in attack.

Tottenham, who had been pushing hard to sign Savinho, now believe the transfer is ‘impossible.’ Spurs have since joined the growing list of clubs exploring a deal for Lookman as Atalanta brace for late interest.

Lookman, who was instrumental in Nigeria’s run to the Africa Cup of Nations final earlier this year, is now keen on a return to England’s top flight.
