Nkanyazi Collin Ndlovu, 39, has been sentenced to three life terms and 14 additional years by the Durban High Court sitting in Scottburgh.

He was convicted for the 2023 murders of his ex-girlfriend, Zanele Sharon Manzi, her mother Qhamikile Doreen Manzi, and the attempted murder of his son.

The crimes took place during a heated argument over money at the woman’s home in Chatsworth.

Ndlovu shot both women with an unlicensed firearm, killing them at the scene. He then shot his eight-year-old son, who survived after being taken to the hospital.

At the time, Ndlovu and the deceased were no longer in a relationship but shared two children. He had traveled from Greytown to fetch the children and brought a firearm with him.

Ndlovu fled the scene and was arrested in Johannesburg in February 2025. He also faced charges for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition from a 2021 case.

In court, Advocate Rakesh Singh presented witness and police testimony, as well as victim impact statements.

The child expressed sadness and trauma over losing his mother at the hands of his father. The deceased’s sister described ongoing trauma and how the children are struggling to cope.

The court declared Ndlovu unfit to possess a firearm and emphasized that crime will not be tolerated.
