The lifeless body of one Tope Olajide, a resident of Otan Ile, Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State, has been found hanging in his house.

It was gathered that Olajide’s body was found hanging in his room on Thursday.

Security personnel were said to have been contacted immediately after the victim’s lifeless body was discovered.

Officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were said to have cordoned off the environment after arriving at the scene of the incident.

A source said the personnel interacted with the people they met in the house regarding the incident, adding that, “The body was still hanging when they arrived, but people were scared to enter the room where the body was because of fear. The NSCDC operatives who came interviewed the wife of the deceased. Police also sent operatives, and the body was later brought down. The deceased was an auto mechanic. The incident led to serious panic in the community.”

The Public Relations Officer of NSCDC, Osun Command, Kehinde Adeleke, confirmed the incident on Friday, explaining that, “On Thursday at around 9:27 am, information reached our office in Ilare Division that one Olajide Tope, popularly known as MECO, living in Otan-Ile, committed suicide.

“Information gathered from people living close to the deceased indicates that he had a misunderstanding with his wife on Wednesday night. People insinuated suicide; should that be taken to be true, what led to it is still hidden”
