Marvel Is Officially Killing Off Spider-Man And Wolverine

Marvel teases Spider-Man and Wolverine‘s definitive deaths right after they learned the truth about the murder of Peter Parker’s parents. Spider-Man and Wolverine’s team-ups are as chaotic as they are memorable due to their naturally opposite personalities that somehow make perfect sense together. Despite his desire to be alone, Wolverine can’t ignore his chemistry with wisecracking heroes like Spider-Man and Deadpool.

Still, Wolverine and Spider-Man’s friendship isn’t as untouchable as they are. The Dreadshadow’s plan to pit them against each other by manipulating the mystery around the Parkers’ death almost completely succeeded. Peter and Logan came dangerously close to killing each other over it, with Spider-Man getting stabbed and Wolverine getting shot with a Muramasa bullet.

Although Peter, Logan, and Spider-Man’s sister Teresa Parker set their differences aside just in time to avoid murdering each other, Wolverine and Spider-Man aren’t fully out of harm’s way yet.

After learning that Dreadshadow manipulated the footage of the Parkers’ deaths and witnessing the villain disintegrate himself, Spider-Man and Wolverine bond over the dilemma of having to let Varys die. Wolverine doesn’t take pride in having to mercy-kill Varys, and Spider-Man doesn’t chastise Wolverine for it. But while both heroes walk into the sunset at the end of Spider-Man & Wolverine #6, their adventure isn’t over.

Shockingly, Marvel teases Spider-Man & Wolverine #7 with a small but significant change: The Deaths of Spider-Man & Wolverine. As if it weren’t clear that their shared struggles are far from over, Marvel adds, “(No, Really.)”. With no threat on the horizon, the most likely way Wolverine and Spider-Man may die is by getting caught off-guard by a villain who wants to eliminate them quickly rather than teach them a lesson.

The two strongest candidates are Kraven and Omega Red, not only because they’re aching to hunt Spider-Man and Wolverine, but also because they disappeared without a trace last time they teamed up. Otherwise, Red Skull could still play a key role in the Parkers’ deaths and reawaken Peter and Logan’s discord. Notably, though, Green Goblin and Sabretooth have yet to appear, and a deathmatch between archnemeses would be the perfect way to end Spider-Man and Wolverine’s story.

Spider-Man & Wolverine Are Two Of The Toughest Marvel Heroes To Kill

Peter Parker And Logan Always Come Back

every marvel hero, including spider-man, wolverine, iron man, hulk and more

Wolverine and Spider-Man are living proof that Marvel heroes simply refuse to die. Wolverine has been burned down to a skeleton, survived having his adamantium ripped out by Magneto, melted alive in molten metal, and even run over by the Punisher with a steamroller. Spider-Man isn’t technically as durable, but he has been broken countless times and even had his body stolen, only to swing back stronger.

Besides, Wolverine and Spider-Man are virtually immortal because they’re too iconic to shelve. Death of Wolverine and Superior Spider-Man opened the door for fresh stories centered around their deaths. Now, Spider-Man & Wolverine #7 could lead into a similar aftermath with their shared demise. As two of Marvel’s most famous characters, however, Wolverine and Spider-Man will never be dead for long.
