The X-Men‘s most important character meets his most brutal death as the Marvel Universe is attacked by an extraterrestrial army. Since their creation, the X-Men have fought and defeated many villains who have endangered mutantkind and the whole world. While it wasn’t easy by any means, the X-Men have managed to fend off threats like Apocalypse, Onslaught, and Mister Sinister.
Not all versions of the X-Men in the multiverse are so successful, however. Only in 2025, the Xenomorphs wiped out nearly all Marvel heroes in Aliens vs Avengers, and the X-Mansion is promptly destroyed before the original X-Men team gets a chance to assemble in Marvel Zombies: Red Band. Now, it’s the Predators’ time to shine.
The Yautja’s attack claims the lives of several Marvel powerhouses in Predator Kills The Marvel Universe #1 and #2. For instance, Cyclops gets punched to death in the Danger Room and Magneto is crushed by an inversion magnet. Unfortunately for the X-Men, the slaughter doesn’t end there.
Charles Xavier Is Burned Alive By Yautja
Predator Kills The Marvel Universe #3; Written by Benjamin Percy; Art by Daniel Picciotto & Frank D’Armata
As Kraven the Hunter sides with the Yautja and kills the Hulk, Wolverine arrives too late at the X-Mansion and witnesses the aftermath of a brutal attack. As soon as he arrives, Wolverine watches Professor X get shot out of the mansion through the front door, engulfed in flames, still sitting in his wheelchair. The image of Charles Xavier’s lifeless body burning on his chair is perhaps one of the most horrifying in X-Men history.
The timing is also quite eerie. Although the X-Mansion is impossible to enter due too the flames, the Yautja who attacks Wolverine must have been hiding strategically, waiting for Wolverine to arrive in order to push Xavier at the right moment. The X-Men’s leader is turned into cooked bait and left to roast in his home’s front garden.
Professor X Is An Expert At Dying
Charles Xavier Has Died A Wide Variety Of Deaths Throughout The Years
It’s no secret to Marvel fans that Professor X has a knack for dying. Xavier’s most infamous death occurred in Avengers vs. X-Men, when the Phoenix-possessed Cyclops kills him during Charles’ desperate attempt to stop the cosmic entity from corrupting his student. Before that, Xavier died saving Magneto in Legion Quest, was killed by a Brood Queen in Uncanny X-Men #167, and was shot in the head during Messiah Complex.
Charles Xavier has met equally tragic ends in the movies. In X-Men: The Last Stand, Patrick Stewart’s Professor X is disintegrated by the Phoenix-possessed Jean Grey. In X-Men: Days of Future Past, a future version of Xavier is slaughtered by a Sentinel. And in Logan, an aging Professor X is stabbed by Wolverine’s clone, X-24.
Despite his frequent deaths, Professor X is a constant in the X-Men’s journey across all continuities. Xavier’s psychic powers allow him to transcend physical limitations and preserve his consciousness in between deaths. In certain universes, however, not even mutantkind’s most influential leader can escape a tragic fate.
