Fans just got a new look at Marvel’s Wolverine, complete with an official release window and the confirmation of a few infamous villains. Insomniac first announced that it was working on a game starring Wolverine back in 2021, but there had been very little officially revealed until now.
A new trailer for Wolverine was shown during the September 2025 PlayStation State of Play, highlighting Logan and many other characters. It begins with Logan (voiced by Australian actor Liam McIntyre) narrating about how trouble always finds him, before jumping into a montage of gruesome combat. This trailer also revealed that Marvel’s Wolverine will launch on PS5 in Fall 2026

Insomniac’s Next Superhero Game Is Much More Violent
Previous leaks and rumors have indicated that Marvel’s Wolverine will be much gritter than past Insomniac offerings like Marvel’s Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and this is readily apparent in the new trailer’s gameplay footage. Logan slashes through enemies with his iconic Adamantium claws, resulting in blood and dismembered limbs flying through the air.
Gamers can also catch a glimpse at some parkour gameplay in the new Marvel’s Wolverine trailer, as the mutant hero is shown running and jumping across rooftops at one point. Logan is also seen riding a motorcycle through a snowy field, but it isn’t clear if this is gameplay or just a cutscene.
What is clear is that Wolverine will be journeying to a variety of locations in his latest gaming adventure. Key members of Insomniac discussed some of these locations after the Marvel’s Wolverine trailer was revealed, with specific mentions being the Canadian wilderness, Japan, and even the crime-filled island of Madripoor.

Marvel’s Wolverine will also feature other beloved X-Men characters besides its title hero. At one point during the trailer, Logan can be seen fighting Omega Red, a Russian serial killer that gamers might recognize from Marvel Vs. Capcom. The shape-shifting supervillain Mystique also appears, first under a disguise before reverting to her natural, blue-skinned form and battling some armored enemies.
One of the biggest surprises came at the very end of the Marvel’s Wolverine trailer, where Logan finds himself standing face-to-faceplate with a giant, mutant-hunting Sentinel robot. Insomniac promises even more exciting information about Marvel’s Wolverine in Spring 2025, not too long before the game is set to leap claws-first onto the PlayStation 5 next fall.
