Residents and other well-wishers from around the country and the world turned up in large numbers in Bauchi State on Friday to witness the burial of the late Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.

As previously reported, the popular leader of the Tijjaniyya order in Nigeria, died on Thursday at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital.
Thousands of mourners, including the Vice President of Nigeria, Sen. Kashim Shettima; former Vice President Atiku Abubakar; several state governors; the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; and several federal and state government officials, attended his funeral prayer.
The Grand Imam of Nigeria, Sheikh Sharif Ibrahim Saleh, presided over the prayers.

Prominent Islamic clerics said the deceased dedicated over 60 years of his life to Islamic propagation, civil mediation, and mentoring leaders across West Africa.
Earlier, President Bola Tinubu had expressed sadness over the death of prominent Muslim leader, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.
In a statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, Tinubu described the Sheikh as a widely respected leader known for his lifelong dedication to teaching, preaching, and guiding his followers.
Tinubu said he was known for promoting peace, faith, and moral values, and his passing is seen as a major loss to his family, the Muslim community, and the nation as a whole.
The President recalled the personal support and guidance he received from Sheikh Bauchi during the 2023 election period.
He urged followers and the public to honour the cleric’s memory by upholding his teachings, strengthening their relationship with God, and treating others with kindness and compassion.
