Mello Buckzz’s Dad Indicted After Selling Weapons to Undercover Informants

The father of Chicago Drill rapper Mello Buckzz is facing serious legal trouble after he was indicted on federal gun charges this week.

According to a federal affidavit, Melvin Doyle allegedly sold a Glock pistol to two undercover informants working with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives on May 20, 2025. The sale reportedly went down at his home in the Washington Park neighborhood and the gun was sold for $800.

Court documents allege that the sale was arranged through phone calls and text messages, where the informants and Doyle exchanged details, including the price and pictures of the firearm. After completing the transaction, Doyle allegedly told the informants “he had more guns and would call them when they were available,” per the affidavit.

Over the next two months, federal investigators say Doyle allegedly sold 12 more guns to the same informants.

It wasn’t Doyle’s first run-in with the law. One of the informants reportedly purchased a gun from Doyle previously, around 2022. He was also convicted of attempted murder in 1998 and later faced drug convictions in both 2003 and 2006.

The charges come in the wake of an album release party hosted by the rapper earlier this year, which tragically ended in a mass shooting.
