Comedian Mike Epps is stirring up a new storm after sounding off about food stamps after the government finally ended the longest shutdown in the country’s history.
During a fiery sit-down on The Breakfast Club, Epps, 54, says SNAP benefits are abused.
“When they paused the food stamps, I told folks, ‘Relax,’” he said, noting that Black communities have already survived far worse.
He continued: “So don’t take this as personal about the food stamps and all that. I’m actually glad they’re cutting some of these n—as off food stamps because some of us need to not be on food stamps because it’s a trickle-down effect.”
Epps argued that the cheap, processed foods people often buy with those benefits can wreck diets, moods, and even decision-making.
“Your diet has sent a lot of people to prison,” he added.
Charlamagne Tha God jumped in, joking that Epps was about to be labeled “MAGA Mike” on cable news. Epps didn’t miss a beat.
According to him, he and rapper Boosie Badazz are “uncancelable,” dismissing the idea.
After the 35-day shutdown, President Trump signed a bill funding the program through September 2026, restoring aid to roughly 42 million Americans.
