As Enola Holmes 3 is finally happening on Netflix, the Millie Bobby Brown-starring franchise will finally take a key storyline to the next level. With the British star set to return for her third outing as the brilliant detective, the trilogy is set to fulfill one of the arcs that it has been developing since the first film.
During a new interview with Collider, Brown shared an exciting update on Enola Holmes 3. While stressing that she is “really, really excited for people to see it,” she added that, “I think it’s a very different Enola Holmes that you’re going to be able to see.”
However, Brown concluded her response by saying, “You asked for romance, so we’ll give you romance.” As the Enola Holmes 2 ending led to them getting closer, it’s only natural that the threequel takes them further into their romance.
Enola Holmes 3 was first revealed to be in the works back in November 2024, as Philip Barantini was tapped to helm the third installment, thus replacing Harry Bradbeer, who directed the first two films. Jack Thorne, who penned the previous movies, was brought back for the latest follow-up.
Principal photography wrapped on the Enola Holmes 3 movie on June 27, 2025, which has several cast members from the previous installments coming back. In April 2025, Tudum formally announced that Henry Cavill, Louis Partridge, Helena Bonham Carter, Himesh Patel, and Sharon Duncan-Brewster would all be back as Sherlock Holmes, Tewkesbury, Eudoria Holmes, Dr. John Watson, and Moriarty, respectively.
While story details are still being kept under wraps, according to Deadline, in a report from November 21, 2024, the third film is aiming to be darker and “skew a little older.” Per their sources, the filmmaker pitched Enola Holmes 3 to do what Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was able to do for the Warner Bros. franchise.
Tudum teased the story as follows: “Adventure chases detective Enola Holmes to Malta, where personal and professional dreams collide in a case more tangled and treacherous than any she has faced before.” As of right now, Enola Holmes 3 has not been given a release date by Netflix.
