Mother of late singer, rapper, and songwriter, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba known professionally as MohBad, Mrs. Abosede Aloba during the week clashed with actor Yomi Fabiyi over the latter’s claim that Adura, the brother of the late singer, knows the cause of his death.

At a press conference held in Ikeja, Lagos on Wednesday, January 15, Fabiyi claimed that Adura messaged him on Instagram, saying he was aware of the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death.

Abosede, however, disputed the claim, alleging that the message was sent by Damola, a young man who had purchased Adura’s phone. She accused Fabiyi of attempting to implicate Adura and tarnish his image.

The grieving mother emphasized that if the family had knowledge of Mohbad’s death, they would not remain silent. Abosede also clarified that Adura had sold his phone to Damola due to financial difficulties.

“Adura is not the one who messaged you about knowing the cause of Mohbad’s death. Adura sold his phone to Damola because he did not have money. It was Damola that messaged him and it is publicly known. I confronted the boy, and he confessed and also apologised,” she said.

“The first time you came out publicly about your intention to help seek justice I was happy but later I felt you also wanted to kill Adura, my son. You said he was the one who messaged you. It is publicly known he wasn’t but you went ahead to organise a conference. Do you want to tarnish his image?

“If Adura truly knew the cause of his brother’s death, he would have joined him. If we do not know the cause, I will not mourn over my surviving children,” Mrs. Aloba added.

Fabiyi, however, clarified that his concern lies with the content of the message rather than the sender. He maintained that the message was sent through Adura’s Instagram handle, but acknowledged that it may not have been Adura himself who sent it.

“There is no way I would wish Adura or Mohbad any harm. If it wasn’t Adura who sent the message explaining Mohbad’s death, would you want me to keep quiet?” the actor cum filmmaker asked.

“All I am trying to say is that it was Adura’s handle that sent me the message. I don’t have anything against him. When I saw the message, I thought you wanted to help your brother,” he added

Recall that Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, and was buried the following day. However, on September 21, 2023, his body was exhumed by the police for an autopsy.
