Momodu Warns FG To Take Trump’s Threat Of Military Action Seriously

Former presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dele Momodu, has urged the Federal Government to take the United States President Donald Trump warning seriously.

Recall that Trump had, last Saturday, ordered the Pentagon to prepare a possible plan of attack in Nigeria, a day after warning that Christianity was “facing an existential threat” in Africa’s most populous nation.

The US President has since reiterated his threat of possible military action in Nigeria over the alleged killings of Christians

Speaking on the development, Momodu stated  that Trump is convinced that the Nigerian government is not serious or prepared to address the country’s worsening insecurity.

He made the submission on Friday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Morning Brief.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain advised the government to make a decisive action concerning the situation.

Meanwhile, Momodu, has expressed concern for President Bola Tinubu over the recent threat by Trump.

According to Momodu, he felt sympathy for Tinubu because it is not the best time to be the Nigerian president.

He said, “The president needs to get people who have the capacity to speak and will be listened to. Not all these political jobbers. The president is very good at politicking. He can make all governors in Nigeria join the All Progressives Congress, APC, but we have passed that stage now.

“Two weeks ago, if anybody told you that President Tinubu would be in this precarious situation, all he would have said is ‘no, it’s not possible.’

“I saw him speaking last night, and I must confess that I felt for him because this is not the best time to be the president of Nigeria. He now has to put on the thinking cap for himself, for his team, and for all of us in Nigeria.”
