Russell Brand is facing additional criminal charges in the U.K. as authorities expand their case against the actor and comedian.
London’s Metropolitan Police confirmed that Brand has been charged with two more counts related to rape and sexual assault involving two additional women.
The new charges add to an existing list that already includes allegations of rape, indecent assault and sexual assault.
Brand, 49, is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 20 in connection with the latest charges. His trial for the earlier allegations is expected to begin roughly six months later.
He has pleaded not guilty to the previous charges and has consistently denied wrongdoing. In earlier statements, Brand said he is “incredibly grateful” for the opportunity to address the accusations in court.

“The women who have made reports, including those connected to the two new charges, continue to receive support from specially trained officers,” the Met said in a statement, adding that the investigation remains ongoing.
Authorities began examining allegations against Brand nearly two years ago following a joint investigation by Channel 4 and The Sunday Times. The reporting prompted further scrutiny across British media organizations that had worked with Brand in the past, leading to internal reviews and public apologies.
Despite living primarily in the U.S. in recent years, Brand has returned to London for pre-trial proceedings. He has also been accused in a separate civil lawsuit in New York related to an alleged incident on a film set.
Detectives continue to urge anyone with information to come forward.
