Super Eagles forward Moses Simon jumped to the summit of the French Ligue 1 assist leaders chart following his assist for Matthis Abline’s opener in their 7-1 bashing at Monaco on Saturday, Soccernet.ng reports.
Nantes looked like they were on to something when they scored the opener against Monaco after just four minute. But their sweet start soon turned sour as Nicolas Cozza was sent off due to a dangerous tackle in the eighth minute.
After that setback, Nantes fell like a pack of cards. Mika Biereth scored the equalizer for Monaco in the 44th minute. Then Takumi Minamino scored the second for the former French Champions just a minute later.
Biereth and George Ilenikhena scored twice while Eliesse Ben Seghir added one in the second half to complete the 7-1 win for Monaco.
However, despite the big loss for Nantes, Nigerian winger Simon had something to be happy about. His assist for the Yellow Canaries was his seventh of the season, placing him at the top of the assists chart.
