Afrobeat singer Oluwatosin Ajibade, well known as Mr Eazi, has said his biggest regret is that his late mother never got to watch him perform on stage before her death.

The singer made this known during an episode of the Brut Podcast, where he spoke about his family and music career.

Mr Eazi said his mother was conservative and did not like travelling, making it difficult for her to attend his performances as his career took him to different parts of the world.

“My only regret in life is that my mom never got to watch me perform on stage before she passed away. She was very conservative in her life in general. She didn’t like travelling, not even from Lagos to Accra.

“And the more my career progressed, the more I was travelling across the world to do shows. But she always supported me with prayers,” he said.

He said his mother continued to support his career through prayers until her death.

Mr Eazi also revealed that his father watched him perform only once, in 2017, despite his growing popularity at the time.

He described his father as supportive, saying he regularly calls to congratulate him whenever he releases a new song or project.

Born in Port Harcourt in 1991, Mr Eazi grew up in Lagos before moving to Ghana to study mechanical engineering at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

He began recording music while at the university and gained attention with songs including ‘Bankulize’ and ‘Skin Tight’. His 2017 mixtape, ‘Life Is Eazi, Vol. 1: Accra to Lagos’, further established him in the Nigerian and Ghanaian music scenes.

Mr Eazi released his debut studio album, The Evil Genius, in October 2023. He also founded emPawa Africa, a platform that supports emerging African artistes.
